BEGINNING OF THE SCHOOL YEAR NEWSLETTER
Welcome back to Holy Family Catholic School! I, along with the entire Holy Family staff are looking forward to a great start to our school year! Get your calendars out and please mark them with all the information and dates that are included in this newsletter. I am sure this will be the best school year yet, and our outstanding staff is looking forward to getting to know your children. Please note that this year we are not sending the Wednesday Folder home, this year will be sent via email and also will be posted in our school website on the 2nd and last Wednesday of every month. Please do not hesitate to call me at the school if you have any questions or concerns.

School Mass will be held every Wednesday at 8:15 a.m. at Our Lady of the Americas, beginning August 15th. Please join us! We love parents and families to attend!
There will be no school on Monday, August 19, due to a Diocesan wide Teacher’s Mass held that day by Bishop Pates, and then professional development in the afternoon.
MEETING FOR PARENTS OF KINDERGARTEN, 1st AND 2nd GRADE STUDENTS
Wednesday, August 21st, 6:00 p.m.
This is a mandatory meeting. At least one parent must attend.

FREE JEANS DAY!
Friday, August 23rd, is a Free Jeans Day for students who return signed permission forms and whose parents attended a parent meeting. Reminder: Each family must return the form located in the back of the Holy Family Handbook signed by parents and students in order to participate in this free jeans day. Forms can be found under “Resources” on the school website. www.hfcsdm.org If you need hard copy of the permissions the front office can provide you with one.
School pictures are on Tuesday, August 27. Students may wear dress clothes this day.
Please refer to page 25 in your handbook for appropriate dress clothes for this day.
No casual clothes, no jeans, no sweatpants, no athlete apparel are to be worn.
Order forms will go home with your students closer to that date. Flyers with ordering information will be sent home with your student. If you would like to order pictures, complete the form on the attached envelop and place the appropriate money in the envelope. Students are to bring these order forms to school on picture day with the appropriate money enclosed.
CLASSROOM FUNDRAISER OUT OF UNIFORM DAYS
As class fundraisers, special out of uniform day will be held. Kindergarten through eighth grade students may dress out of uniform on these designated dates for $1. All money collected will benefit a different classroom each month. The first out of uniform fundraiser date is Friday, August 30th, benefiting the 7th grade classroom. If a student chooses to dress out of uniform on this day, they must bring $1 for the fundraiser. Please refer to page 24 of the parent/student handbook for appropriate Out of Uniform Day dress. Reminder: each family must return the form located in the back of the holy family handbook signed by parents and students in order to participate in this first jeans day. Please turn the form in.
CLASSROOM FUNDRAISER JEANS DAY
Friday, September 6th, will be a jeans day benefiting the 6th grade classroom. If a student chooses to dress out of uniform on this day, they must bring $1 for the of Uniform Day dress.
There will be no school on Monday, September 2, due to Labor Day.
The State of Iowa establishes prices for our breakfast and lunch program and notified us that a 20 day lunch ticket will be $56, lunch is 2.80 per day. Breakfast will be $2.15 per day. Parents or guardians, students need to have a lunch ticket purchased or a free/reduced form filled out. If you have questions, please contact Sheri at 262-8025.

This information is provided from the Iowa Sex Offender Registry to the public pursuant to Iowa Code chapter 692A. The purpose of this information is to allow members of the public a means to protect themselves from individuals who have committed an offense that requires registration on the Sex Offender Registry.
